Take A Look!

  • Civil Catamount Campaign

During the Spring 2021 semester at Western Carolina University, I was partnered with four other senior PR students to research, create and begin to implement civil discourse on a college campus. I worked alongside other PR students to research civil discourse. I was in charge of creating a hypothetical radio advertisement for the university’s radio station, creating a workshop banner and handout, presenting our research, and using the PESO model. Aligning my focus on the comprehensive research, I focused on the 2020 Presidential election and how social media can fuel civil discourse and its impact within the community.

  • Cognitive Dissonance

In my Communication Theory course at Western Carolina University, I was paired with another PR student to discuss the cognitive dissonance theory by Leon Festinger. For our presentation, we focused on certain components of the theory which allowed us to explain those critical components in great detail by using the constructivism theory. The depth of our material supported the credibility of our work and allowed us to establish the “reasoning” of the theory.

  • Theta Xi & Habitat for Humanity

In April 2021 I had the privilege of creating a flyer for the Theta Xi fraternity for their new clothing drive! The clothing drive was to benefit the local non-profit organization Habitat for Humanity. The flyer was made using Adobe InDesign and Canva.

  • Tunnel of Oppression

In the Intercultural Communication course at Western Carolina University, the topics of social justice, globalization in a community, and intercultural communication on and off-campus were discussed, explained, and sought after. As we learned of democratic engagement within our communities, we wanted to bring knowledge of oppression, perspectives, and understanding.

  • Highlands Inn Internship

From December 2020 to May 2021, I was the communication and social media intern at the Highlands Inn in Highlands, North Carolina. As the Inn ended their 140th year being open, bringing the technology up to date and getting a social media presence was on the to-do list. During my five months at the Inn, I worked alongside the manager and owner to enhance the communication between employees to employees, employees to guests, and guests to reviews.

  • Highlands Inn Brochure

During my time at the Highlands Inn, I created a brochure for guests and the lobby area. The brochure was initially for my Desktop Publishing communication class, but per the request of the manager, I customized the brochure to both locations! I used Adobe InDesign to create the brochure and then exported the document to a pdf file.
